“I love that you get cold when it’s 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you’re looking at me like I’m nuts. I love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it’s not because I’m lonely, and it’s not because it’s New Year’s Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.” —Harry Burns When Harry Met Sally

25 Days of Christmas
  • Me: Did Mom get you that advent calendar?
  • Kerry: Yes
  • Me: Ugh, why didn't she get me one?
  • Kerry: Don't be jealous, it doesn't even have chocolate in it.

Apron Love

I’ve become a bit of a serious home cook lately. This is probably due to my unemployed status. It gives me something to do and I love to cook. In my teeny Manhattan kitchen I’m missing a great deal of tools - a zester, a salad spinner and, of course, counter space. All of those I can deal with. What I am really missing is an apron. Here are a few I have my eye on:

Olde New York

Today Ben and I are celebrating our 4th anniversary of dating. He has to work today but before he left he surprised me with a gift I love!

Both my grandmother and Ben’s mom have this print of a New Yorker cover from 1976:

A few weeks ago, we walked by an art and frame store and noticed a different print by the same artist. This print is of an older New York and of the East Side (our side of town). I mentioned that it would be a nice print for us to have in our apartment because it is similar to the print both our families have but still different and feels more “us.” I promptly forgot about it but Ben didn’t and now I finally have some art to but on our bare walls!
